Hello, I am Eko Setiawan, an overseas student and nice to meet you. My study is Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) of solar cell power generation system. A solar cell has its characteristic. Its current is a function of its voltage, and vice-verse. Fig. 1 shows how is the relation between the current and voltage.

In the simple system, we can harvest the power of solar cell by directly connecting to the load. Will it produce the maximum power? It sometimes produces the maximum one, but not always. Let us learn the solar cell curve (Fig. 1). If the voltage at maximum point, we will get the maximum power. What is happened if the voltage is not at that point? We never get the maximum power. Thus, we need the control system to keep the voltage around the maximum point and harvest the maximum power. That is my study now.
